Weekly Photo Challenge: Blue

Chartres Cathedral has the largest number of original medieval stained glass windows of all the Gothic cathedrals in Europe. Prior to being invaded by Germany in World War II, the townspeople removed all the windows from the cathedral and hid them in the countryside to prevent their destruction. They were reinstalled after the war.
The brilliant blue stained glass is known as “Chartres Blue” and is unique to Chartres.
